ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) Commemorates 10th Anniversary, Championing a Decade of Regional Health Security and Strategic Integration

BANGKOK, July 22, 2026 – The ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM) hosted a grand celebration to mark its 10th anniversary (2016–2026) at the Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel, showcasing a decade of success in integrating regional military medical capabilities and enhancing health security across the ASEAN region.

Established in 2016 following the initiative of the Thai Ministry of Defence, ACMM was created to serve as a vital mechanism for regional security and safety under the ADMM and ADMM-Plus frameworks. Over the past ten years, the center has successfully coordinated efforts among the 10 ASEAN member states and 8 dialogue partners—including Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, and the United States—to handle humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).

The commemorative event was presided over by the Minister of Defence, who delivered the opening remarks and viewed a video presentation detailing ACMM’s history and significant achievements. A major highlight of the day was a special keynote address by the ASEAN Secretary-General titled “ The Role of ACMM in ASEAN Health Security Architecture: A Decade of Integration and Strength”. This was followed by an academic panel discussion featuring representatives from the AHA Centre and WHO (Thailand), alongside founding leaders who shared their experiences in transforming the center from a vision into a pillar of regional cooperation.

The event also featured the 6th ASEAN Military Medicine Conference (6th AMMC), where ACMM presented its strategic roadmap for the next decade. Attendees explored an extensive exhibition showcasing military medical innovations, poster presentations of academic research, and booths displaying state-of-the-art medical equipment.

As ACMM enters its second decade, it remains committed to its core mission: Standardization, Harmonization, Capability Improvement, and Sustainability. The center continues to prepare the region for future challenges, including climate change impacts and emerging health threats, through its 'One ASEAN, One Response' framework.
